Two points. I agree with almost everything, but he represents the LPD-17 program as a broken program because the first ship had problems. I disagree, it is stable and the ship is useful. Bashing the ship because of a CAD software error of the contractor doesn't make sense all these years later.
Second, I really like this comment.
The Navy's leadership -- military and civilian -- must develop a reasonable and affordable program that will be saleable to Congress. As important, the program must be articulated properly so that all "players" understand the future importance of naval forces in this uncertain era.The Navy needs a communication strategy at least as much as it needs a shipbuilding strategy.
