USS Ohio Made Port Today - In Guam

One day after we observed some strange media reporting in Korea regarding the possibility of shifting the home port of the USS Ohio (SSGN 726) to Guam, The Pacific Daily News reports the submarine pulled into port today.

A state-of-the-art U.S. Navy submarine arrived on Guam today for maintenance and a port visit, according to a Navy press release.

The USS Ohio is the first of four Trident-missile submarines that have been converted to carry guided missiles and Special Operations Forces to improve the Navy’s ability to fight the Global War on Terrorism, the release said.

“The new class of submarines provides a powerful, non-provocative forward presence that can respond quickly to emergent needs. The converted platform combines the speed, stealth, range, and flexibility of a nuclear-powered submarine with the unprecedented undersea payload,” the release said.

So was that how
Commodore Sawyer was misquoted? Was he was actually revealing to the Korean reporter the expected location of the most sophisticated submarine deployed in the Pacific, and the guy got the story wrong? Hopefully, probably the two stories aren't related and this is a coincidence.
