Speaking before the Knesset, Bush said that “some people” believe the United States “should negotiate with terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along."So why are the Dems are going batshit over this? I'll entertain that question, but first show me the trend lines where terrorists and radicals are backing down to diplomacy and discussion? How about some historical evidence? If you can't answer those questions, don't post your political "Biden", because I'm asking a few serious questions for context and the politics of Bash Bush for 'insulting' Obama surrounding this issue is far from being serious.
"We have heard this foolish delusion before," Bush said. "As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: 'Lord, if I could only have talked to Hitler, all this might have been avoided.' We have an obligation to call this what it is — the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history."
Obama must have a guilt complex or something, how else can one explain how he sees this as a personal attack? Note, Hillary didn't react like a crying child, in fact she didn't react at all like Bush was talking about her. Why? Because no one in the world doubts she'll kick their ass, saw off their nuts, and mail them home to mommy. Everyone in the world but his supporters thinks Obama is weak, and it is why all the trash in the world love him. His reaction, and its associated pity party, only reinforces that perception of weakness.
Unfortunately, the politics is a distraction, the real issue is that Bush's comments are right. The real issue, hidden behind the political distraction, is whether we have the political leadership that can formulate good strategies for meeting this challenge. Bush had his chance, and his record will be one of mixed results and missed opportunities. Will the next President do any better? If this is how Obama handles tough issues, I'm not encouraged. For Obama, this was a missed opportunity, turns out he is very much like the Washington types who create distractions when important discussions pop up.
