The Meme of Seven

The Squadron of Evolution " —sometimes referred to as the "White Squadron"— was a transitional task force in the United States Navy during the late 19th century. The Squadron of Evolution was composed of the cruisers USS Atlanta, USS Boston, USS Chicago, and the dispatch boat USS Dolphin. Having both full rigged masts and steam engines, it was influential in the beginning of steel shipbuilding in the United States.

Usually not my thing, but when I get tagged by a regular reader (Historyguy99) who got tagged by someone on my blogroll (Zenpundit), I find it hard to resist.

Here are the rules:
1. Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog.

2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.

3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.

4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

5. Present an image of martial discord something more relavent to my blog from whatever period or situation you’d like.

Here are the facts:

1) I grew up the sports playing jock who was elected most likely to succeed because of an outgoing personality. Most people who know me today would have to see evidence to believe that is true, as I have grown up to become a huge computer nerd. Most of my social experience these days consists of being my very successful wifes "husband" in a room full of lawyers during social events, where as my chosen social experience is spent drinking beer after work almost every Friday afternoon with the best hackers in government service.

2) I am addicted to Dunkin Donut's coffee. I drink it everyday, but I have never even once eaten Dunkin Donut's food.

3) My one regret in life is never going to college to get a degree. Since I turned 19 years old, my one goal yet to be achieved is to retire before I turn 50 years old and return to college, earn a degree in history, and join a fraternity. Fraternity optional. I have owned and closed more businesses since age 20 than the total college credit hours earned over the same time period.

4) I have three favorite sports teams, all a result of where I grew up: Arkansas Razorbacks, Dallas Cowboys, and St Louis Cardinals. Otherwise I choose teams to cheer for based on strange logic. For example, I am cheering for the LA Lakers for the same reason I was cheering for the Utah Jazz last year, I went to High School with Derek Fisher. I will follow the Oakland Raiders this year for one reason only, I knew Darren McFadden's brothers once upon a time.

5) I only watch three TV shows, and thanks only to DVR; Battlestar Galactica, Top Chef, and Deadliest Catch. I've never seen any of them "live".

6) My music taste is greatly influenced by two factors, what I enjoyed in the 90s, and what my oldest daughter puts on my ipod. For example, I like that "Pork and Beans" song by Weezer. I also like the video. For some reason, one song I really like on my ipod is by David Cook who performs a Mariah Carry remix of "Always Be My Baby". How clueless am I on the pop culture of today? I listened to that song for two weeks at the gym on my ipod before learning via a yahoo news story David Cook was an American Idol contestant.

7) Last summer we had a frog infestation in the backyard making it difficult to hear during dinner on the deck. I taught my oldest daughter how to solve the problem by catching snakes and releasing them in the frogs habitat. 3 days later, the frog problem was resolved, and my youngest daughter was fascinated how two snakes had a new 'bulge' in the body. This is one of many examples why my yankee neighbors think I'm a southern nut.

By the way, I am aware the image is not "martial discord" so I am breaking the rules a bit here, but the image is very relavent to the the theme of the blog content this week, so I ran with it.
