The Blogging Admiral

Admiral Robert F. Willard, Commander U.S. Pacific Fleet, is now among the blogosphere. The Standing Orders read as follows:

This blog is intended to allow servicemembers and/or civilians to comment on recent postings, or ask questions that are on their minds. Although this blog is not on the navy.mil domain, it is still an official Web site. With that said, I would ask that the following "Standing Orders" be honored. One to keep an eye on. Even after talking to Admiral Allen about his iCommandant initiative, while I admit I am interested, I am not confident yet that simply being an Admiral who blogs will be a successful venture.

At the end of the day, blogs only get traffic if they are interesting, and success in the blogosphere will ultimately be decided by the quality of content. While I'm sure both Admiral Allen and Admiral Willard would be very interesting in person, the question is will the write something that makes their blogs compelling enough to visit daily?

Time will tell.
