Check this out.“The armed hijackers who boarded the ship earlier today have departed,” Maersk said last night. “However, they are currently holding one member of the ship’s crew as a hostage.”The maritime mariners on that ship kick ass. When the USS Bainbridge (DDG 96) arrives, they will be negotiating with a lifeboat full of 4 pirates, 2 hostages, and no fuel. As long as the pirates are not suicidal this will hopefully conclude peacefully.
The position was further complicated after the lifeboat seized by the pirates came to a halt - apparently because of lack of fuel - near the container ship. US military forces were heading to the area to intervene.
