Ten years from now, today may be viewed as an incredibly consequential day in the history of the US Navy. The decision to downselect on LCS seems to me to be a huge step in the right direction in fixing the morass of ship acquisition, and the President's missile defense announcement--replete with references to sea-based missile defense, SM-3 and AEGIS--both serve to mark a possible "tipping point" for the Navy.
