More Google and China

Professor Sam Liles of Purdue University is one of the worlds premier experts on cyber warfare. He really would be a great asset for 10th fleet, but that is just my professional* opinion. He weighed in on the Google vs China discussion tonight, and as he tends to do with his maritime flare, used a naval analogy.

I still believe before this is said and done, there will be several 21st century strategic lessons learned in this case that are studied broadly. Enormous Corporations with global influence and market share like Google simply don't make idle threats to the fastest growing market on the planet and largest country in the world unless they have something up their sleeve to sufficiently threaten with.

* Professional opinions in this context on this blog by me are rare. Professional in this context refers to my profession as a both an IT business owner and a well compensated technical IT government consultant. The Navy would be very wise to leverage Professor Liles as an on call asset for 10th Fleet. I think they would find he is a good match, and I know some 10th Fleet folks have mentioned his name in the past.
