Honoring our Fallen Warriors

Every American life lost in the defense of our freedom is precious. Even so, our SOF warriors, their military enablers, civilians, contractors, and families provide a disproportionate share of the nation’s defense in more ways and places than the average American could imagine. On any given day, these quiet professionals are deployed in over 70 countries around the globe. Many of them have made more than a dozen combat deployments to Iraq or Afghanistan. I am not a special operator, but have had the privilege of working in the community at several levels and in a number of places for more than seven years now. Many people have asked how they can help the families of our fallen special operations warriors. Below is a list of charities that I personally think do a good job of honoring our warriors by taking care of the ones left behind, the ones still in combat, and those recovering from wounds on the battle field. If you are so inclined, visit one or more of these sites and show your support.

For the fallen: Special Operations Warrior Foundation and the Navy SEAL Foundation

For the living: United Service Organizations

For the recovering heroes: Exalted Warrior Foundation and Wounded Warrior Project
